Master the Green
A Comprehensive Guide to Shooting Star
About Shooting Star
Shooting Star is a modern reimagining of classic tabletop physics games, blending intuitive slinging mechanics with numbered targets. Keep the puck in play using precision and momentum.
This is a free, single-player game that runs in your browser. There is no account, download, or leaderboard. Your score and current wave last only for the open game session; your display and language preferences are saved on your device.
How to Play
Shooting Star is a short, skill-based target game. Use your mouse or touchscreen to pull the white puck away from the direction you want it to travel, then release to shoot.
- Aim: Drag the white puck backward to build a shot. The dotted path previews the direction and wall bounces; release to launch. Longer drags increase power up to a limit.
- Score: Send every red target into any corner ring. Each target adds one point. Keep the white puck out of the rings: if it enters one, the run ends.
- Waves: A wave begins with three red targets. Clearing them starts a new wave with one more target, 15 shots, and a fresh 10-minute timer.
- End of a run: The run ends if the white puck enters a ring, the timer reaches zero, or you use all 15 shots and every puck has stopped. Choose Continue to retry the current wave or Restart to begin again.
Advanced Pro-Tips
Aiming is about choosing both a launch line and a safe landing path. Try these practical techniques:
- Control power: Start with a short pull when a target is close. Strong shots travel farther and transfer more momentum, which can make a target harder to line up for a ring.
- Read the preview: Use the dotted line to check the first part of the shot and likely wall rebounds. It is a guide, so watch how target collisions change the final path.
- Protect the white puck: Before releasing, check whether the projected path heads toward a corner ring. A shot that scores a target is not worth ending the run.
- On touchscreens: Place your finger on the white puck, drag in the opposite direction from your intended shot, and lift to release. Keep the full board visible while aiming.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. The game supports mouse input and touch dragging. Rotate or resize your device if the board feels cramped.
How is my score calculated?
You earn one point whenever a red target reaches a corner ring. The score is shown above the board and is not submitted to a leaderboard.
What happens after I clear a wave?
The next wave starts automatically with one additional target. You receive a new set of 15 shots and a 10-minute timer for that wave.
Does the game save my progress?
No. Your score and wave are kept in the current page session only. Reloading the page starts a new run. The site stores only your language and theme preferences in your browser's local storage.
